Answers to the questions we get asked the most.
What makes A Plus Concrete LLC different from other contractors?
We're a local, family-owned business that treats every customer and every project like our own. Between our hands-on experience and honest communication, our goal is to build lasting relationships with our customers, not just complete a one-time job.
Do you handle both residential and commercial concrete projects?
Yes. We work on everything from home driveways and patios to larger commercial slabs, sidewalks, and parking areas.
How much experience does your team have?
Our lead concrete professional brings over 10 years of hands-on industry experience, and we bring that same knowledge, skill, and confidence to every job we take on.
Are you licensed, insured, and bonded?
Yes. A Plus Concrete LLC is fully licensed, insured, and bonded, so you can have peace of mind from start to finish.
How do you communicate with customers during a project?
We believe clear communication is key to a successful project. We provide honest answers, keep you informed every step of the way, and are always available to answer your questions.
How dependable is your scheduling?
We show up when we say we will, respect your time and property, and treat your satisfaction as our top priority.
Why is concrete work expensive?
Concrete work involves much more than simply pouring concrete. The cost of a professionally installed concrete project includes skilled labor, excavation and site preparation, gravel base and compaction, forming, reinforcement, concrete materials and delivery, specialized equipment, finishing, cleanup, and proper project management.
Every property is also different. Accessibility, soil conditions, drainage, grading, concrete thickness, reinforcement, and the type of finish can all affect the final cost.
Proper preparation and experienced workmanship are especially important because concrete is a long-term investment. Cutting corners during installation can lead to costly problems in the future. At A Plus Concrete LLC, our goal is to provide quality concrete work that is properly planned, professionally installed, and built to last.
Why is my new concrete cracking?
Concrete is a durable material, but cracking can occur naturally over time due to shrinkage, temperature changes, ground movement, soil conditions, and other factors.
We use proper preparation and construction practices and install control joints where appropriate to help manage cracking. However, no concrete contractor can guarantee that concrete will never crack.
All concrete can develop hairline cracks over time — that's normal. But major cracking is almost always caused by poor site preparation, no rebar reinforcement, or an inadequate base. At APC, we excavate to proper depth, install compacted gravel base, and use rebar on every stamped project.
How much can I expect to pay?
The cost of concrete work can vary significantly depending on the type and size of the project. Factors such as site accessibility, excavation, grading, base preparation, concrete thickness, reinforcement, drainage requirements, and the selected finish can all affect the final price.
Smaller projects may also have a higher cost per square foot because many of the same equipment, labor, concrete delivery, and mobilization costs are required regardless of the project's size.
At A Plus Concrete LLC, we evaluate each project individually and provide a detailed estimate based on the specific work required. This allows us to provide accurate pricing and ensure the project is properly planned from the beginning.
Can concrete be installed year-round?
Yes! While summer is our busiest season, concrete can be successfully installed throughout much of the year — not just during the summer. In fact, spring and fall are often our favorite times to pour concrete, as the cooler, more consistent temperatures can provide ideal conditions for placement and curing.
Weather plays an important role in every concrete project. Factors such as temperature, rain, humidity, and wind all affect how concrete is placed, finished, and cured. That's why we carefully monitor the forecast before scheduling each pour.
Because weather in Skagit County can be unpredictable, project schedules may occasionally need to be adjusted. Our priority is to complete your concrete project under the right conditions rather than rush the job and compromise the quality of the finished product. We'd rather postpone a pour by a day than install it under poor conditions that could affect its long-term performance.
Why do you need to visit my property to provide an estimate?
Every concrete project and property is different. An on-site visit allows us to accurately evaluate the project area, take measurements, check site access, assess grading and drainage, and identify any excavation or preparation that may be needed.
Seeing the site in person also gives us the opportunity to discuss your ideas, answer questions, and better understand your expectations for the project.
Our goal is to provide you with an accurate and detailed estimate based on the actual conditions of your property, rather than giving you a price that may change significantly once work begins.
Still have questions? We're happy to talk through your project.
